Honne Therapy creates an atmosphere of warmth, openness and acceptance, so that you can feel safe and heard.

Our approach is Person Centred, with a deep reverence for the wisdom and potential within every person. In this space of non-judgement, you can turn inward for guidance and trust your own authentic direction in life.

Practice + philosophy

PERSON CENTRED

Nature knows how to be. It has a profound wisdom and way of unfolding itself into being-ness. A seed knows the soil, a tree reaches towards the light, following its own unique and natural direction. As human-beings, we too hold within ourselves this quiet, powerful pull towards becoming whole.

In the same way we watch a plant reach for the warmth of the sun, root deep into the earth, and expand gracefully, we can connect with our own innate wisdom. Given the nourishing conditions of empathy, honesty and acceptance, our truest form and direction towards our fullest potential expresses itself.

By offering you the conditions for psychological growth, these therapy sessions are an opportunity to witness your unfolding, your flourishing, your being.

TENDER

Change demands honesty and courage, and I respect every client who steps onto that path. With an understanding of the vulnerability it requires, I will listen to you with tenderness and empathy.

CREATIVE

Creatives often navigate the complex inner tensions of identity, expression, direction and expectation. I work with people who “feel deeply,” who are sensitive, imaginative, or caught between possibilities. Therapy becomes a space where they can reconnect with inner clarity and confidence.

Within our Therapy Sessions or Workshops colour, movement, imagination and play, our sessions can connect you with un-nurtured emotions and subconscious storytelling. Expressing these can relieve their tensions and offer greater self-insight. I offer more insight into Creative Therapy here

INCLUSIVE

I am committed to practicing with acceptance and respect, and prize every persons autonomy and individuality. The space I offer is free of judgement and discrimination, and embraces clients of different ethnicities, identities, sexualities, abilities, neurologies, race, religious beliefs and backgrounds. I support those vulnerable to prejudices to feel accepted, safe and empowered.

ZEN

Insight into Eastern Psychology informs my practice and the mindfulness based tools I offer. Zen thought holds that it is through a direct experience of ourself that we are liberated from disconnection and suffering - it is through presence and ‘being with’ that we find peace. It is this capacity to ‘be’ that we will cultivate together.

a space of deep listening, empathy and acceptance with therapist Mimi Robson

Founded by Mimi Robson, an artist and therapist, Honne offers a therapeutic experience that is both gentle and insightful, to support emotional wellbeing through a process that feels human, intuitive, and deeply attuned.

Mimi’s work emerges from a creative foundation of years spent in artistic practice. This background informs a therapeutic style that is perceptive and nuanced, grounded in emotional presence and a high sensitivity to subtleties in expression, implicit meaning and layered dynamics.

Honne Therapy Sessions are a reflective space where you can safely explore the beliefs, pressures and emotional patterns that shape your life. We specialise in supporting artists, designers, makers, creative professionals and emotionally intuitive individuals navigating identity, self-esteem, burnout, and life transitions.

About Mimi

Before becoming a Counsellor, I spent many years as an artist, exploring how people see and express themselves. Creativity was, and still is, a way for me to deepen my self-awareness and stay connected to my own experiences. I now bring this same curiosity and insight into my therapy sessions, blending the creative process with a deep understanding of the human psyche, the power of therapeutic listening and psychological healing.

I have always been drawn to the depth of human experience—the ways we make sense of ourselves, the ways we struggle, and the ways we grow. My interest in psychology began as a curiosity about how we experience ourselves and our emotions, but over time, it deepened into an appreciation of honesty, deep listening, and the kind of connection that allows someone to feel truly understood.

My counselling approach is shaped by my artistic and introspective nature, my study of Zen philosophy, and a deep respect for the experience of simply being—being with whatever arises, without resistance or judgment. Therapy, to me, is not about ‘fixing’ you, but about creating space to meet yourself with honesty and care—to ask questions, to face discomfort, and to take steps toward self-trust. Because I believe that self-trust is the foundation of a free and creative life.

My role as a therapist is to offer a space where this process can unfold—to be with you, with acceptance, so that you can learn to be with yourself in the same way. I know, on a personal level, what it feels like to struggle with self-doubt, to feel misunderstood, and to long for relief from the fear that keeps your full self hidden. This understanding allows me to meet you with real tenderness and respect.

My aproach is gentle, warm, and accepting. You will be met with curiosity rather than judgment, honesty rather than pretence, and the freedom to come exactly as you are.

In my own life, I continue to express my inner world through art, and I draw inspiration from nature, especially the shifting landscapes of Cornwall. I also practice Zen meditation and study Buddhist philosophy, which helps me cultivate the presence and resilience needed to hold a safe, compassionate space for you, even in life’s most difficult moments.
