about Mimi

Before becoming a Counsellor, I spent many years as an artist, exploring how people see and express themselves. Creativity was, and still is, a way for me to deepen my self-awareness and stay connected to my own experiences. I now bring this same curiosity and insight into my therapy sessions, blending the creative process with a deep understanding of the human psyche, the power of therapeutic listening and psychological healing.

In my practice, I offer a safe and accepting space where you can explore your feelings and experiences without judgment. I work from a Humanistic perspective, which believes that each of us holds the potential for growth and healing within ourselves. My role is not to ‘fix’ you, but to help you reconnect with this innate wisdom, so that you can live with greater self-trust.

The tools with which I work are empathy, honesty, acceptance and deep listening, creating an environment where you can feel heard and understood. Together, we will explore your inner landscape with patience, uncovering the parts of yourself that need care and attention. Our sessions are a safe and judgment free space to explore your troubles and tensions, and nurture the aspects of psyche which can empower you.

In my own life, I continue to express my inner world through art, and I draw inspiration from nature, especially the shifting landscapes of Cornwall. I also practice Zen meditation and study Buddhist philosophy, which helps me cultivate the presence and resilience needed to hold a safe, compassionate space for you, even in life’s most difficult moments.

Person Centered

I am qualified to work with a Person Centred approach and have a deep reverence for the wisdom and potential within every person.

I create an atmosphere of warmth, openness and acceptance, so that you can feel safe and heard. In this space of non-judgement, you can learn to turn inward for guidance and trust your own authentic direction in life.

Tender

Change demands determination and courage, and I respect every client who steps onto that path. With an understanding of the vulnerability it requires, I will listen to you with tenderness and empathy.

Zen

Insight into Eastern Psychology informs my practice and the mindfulness based tools I offer.

Zen Thought holds that it is through a direct experience of our Self that we are liberated from disconnection and suffering - it is through presence and ‘being with’ that we find peace. It is this capacity to ‘be’ that we will cultivate together.

Creative

With colour, movement, imagination and play, our sessions can connect you with un-nurtured emotions and subconscious storytelling. Expressing these can relieve their tensions and offer greater self-insight.

Inclusive

I am committed to practicing with acceptance and respect, and prize every persons autonomy and individuality.

The space I offer is free of judgement and discrimination, and embraces clients of different ethnicities, identities, sexualities, abilities, neurologies, race, religious beliefs and backgrounds. I support those vulnerable to prejudices to feel accepted, safe and empowered.

here for you,
as you cultivate…

  • A healthy experience of our emotions does not mean shutting them down, but as we open up to feeling them, we risk becoming overwhelmed.

Self-soothing tools build your capacity to both feel and regulate yourself with more confidence and calmness.

  • Developing self-awareness offers you a deeper understanding of what makes you who you are, so that you can govern your life with more autonomy and alignment.

  • Shame, anxiety and depression may tell us we need to change or hide our troubling and 'negative' parts. But self-acceptance gives these parts attention and understanding so that all of who we are can be loved.

  • Connection to our true feelings and acceptance of our needs, creates alignment. With that, we can command our lives with more freedom and integrity.

  • Witnessing ourselves fully can be confronting. An accepting space can make exploring the uncomfortable or 'un-acceptable' parts of you less scary, so that you can begin expressing yourself with more confidence and creativity.

  • With exploration and acceptance, the fears and inner tensions that keep us rigid and feeling low can give way to resilience and compassion.

With your courage and capacity to be with your experience, you can build self-mastery, power and feel new depths of joy.
